Before you read this

What follows describes the practical shape of the journey — where you will be, roughly when, and what tends to happen. It is not religious instruction. For guidance on how the rites are to be performed, and on any question of ruling, please consult a qualified scholar or your local imam.

Arrival

You will clear immigration, collect your luggage, and meet your driver in arrivals if a transfer has been arranged. The drive from Jeddah to Makkah takes a little over an hour in normal traffic.

Most guests arrive tired. There is no need to rush to the Haram the moment you check in — rest first if you need to.

In Makkah

Your hotel will be within walking distance of the Haram or served by a shuttle. Prayer times structure the day, and the area around the Haram becomes very busy in the half hour before each one.

Give yourself more time than you think you need to walk over, particularly for Fajr and Maghrib.

Travelling to Madinah

The journey takes around four and a half hours by car. We time departures around your check-out and the prayer schedule so you are not travelling at an awkward hour.

Madinah is noticeably calmer than Makkah. Most guests find the pace of the second half of the trip quite different.

Departure

Your driver will collect you with enough margin for check-in and security. Confirm the pickup time with your coordinator the day before rather than relying on the original itinerary, in case your flight has moved.
